Programs:
Sylacauga First United Methodist Church strives to offer a variety of programs that reach out to the youth of our community. Below is a list of weekly programs, times, and a brief description of each:
Sunday Programs:
Sunday School (10:00-11:00): The youth Sunday school classes are broken down by grades in order to allow students the comfort of meeting with others of their own age and discussing topics that are relevant to their lives. There are three different classes offered to our youth. The breakdown of grades is 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12.
New World Choir (4:00-5:00): The New World Choir (NWC) is a 40-plus year ministry of this church under the current direction of Jim Armstrong. The choir practices weekly in preparation for ministry opportunities within the church and community. The NWC participates in Sunday morning worship, ministers at other local churches and nursing homes, and spends one week each year on a choir tour to various parts of the United States during Spring Break.
United Methodist Youth Fellowship, UMYF (5:00-6:00): The UMYF meets each Sunday evening for a time of structured Bible study and devotional time. Students enjoy the opportunity to experience the living word of God as it applies to their lives and spiritual development.
Wednesday Programs:
Faith Family Supper (5:30-6:15): Many youth enjoy this time of fellowship with friends and family as our church gathers in the fellowship hall for a weekly time of breaking bread, uplifting conversation, and Godly fellowship.
UMYF (6:15-7:15): The youth gather again on Wednesday evening for a time of fellowship and devotion. Wednesday gatherings are less rigid in structure and often revolve around learning scriptural lessons through youth-led devotions, games, and/or activities.
